As One World Trade Center is raised higher and higher, nearly reaching the height of the Empire State Building I noticed not many photographs appearing of the tower illuminated in red in honor of Archbishop Timothy Dolan’s elevation to Cardinal. I ventured into New York City on a cold and windy Saturday night to capture the event. Here is a storify I created earlier in the day showing images I had found on the interwebs. Congressman Michael Grimm made a request to the Empire State Building to be lit in red but was declined. Rep. Grimm then made the same request to the Port Authority of NY & NJ which owns One World Trade. The tower will be lit in red from Feb 24th – March 2nd.

Beautiful. Glad you braced for the cold and got these images. They may be the first to capture a sense of personality in this building beyond its obvious place in history.
