Frozen Hudson River 2014

With record low temperatures heading to the northeast, I wanted to photograph the current conditions of the Hudson River in Kingston, New York. This time last year, my wife and I found Plum Point Park in Newburgh, NY and discovered a shore full of shattered ice.

This time most of the shattered ice was collected further into the river for us to photograph. We also arrived right at sunset leaving us with little light to take photos but left a remarkable sunset.

The next day, we made our first stop at Kingston Point Park.

Unfortunately the ice shards were still too far out into the river to shoot. We decided to move a little further north near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge to get another vantage point. We found what you see below.
